Harmonium practice often starts with Sargam. It is similar to Do Re Mi, but shaped for Indian classical music, raga study, and vocal practice.

Seven Shuddha Swar

  • Sa - tonic, mapped to C
  • Re - second, mapped to D
  • Ga - third, mapped to E
  • Ma - fourth, mapped to F
  • Pa - fifth, mapped to G
  • Dha - sixth, mapped to A
  • Ni - seventh, mapped to B

Five Vikrit Swar

  • Komal Re - C#
  • Komal Ga - D#
  • Tivra Ma - F#
  • Komal Dha - G#
  • Komal Ni - A#

Practice Tips

  • Anchor Sa first, then practice Sa Re Ga Ma.
  • Repeat white keys slowly before adding altered notes.
  • Use transpose to match your vocal range.
